Globalization Index
Recent terrorist attacks and the worldwide economic slowdown have caused some observers to say that globalization is over. Others argue that any setbacks in global integration must be measured against notable advances in the past several years.
The A T Kearney/Foreign Policy Magazine Globalization Index sheds light on important questions related to globalization in 62 key advanced and emerging markets worldwide. Using a unique statistical gauge, the index ranks countries based on their levels of economic, social, technological and political integration with the rest of the world. This year, findings from the index also challenge the notion that globalization creates a race to the bottom” in which countries reduce taxes and social spending in an effort to attract foreign capital.
